A quick look at all the stuff Lost Art Press published during the last seven days.

Megan is out today, so you’re stuck with me (Chris). I’m scrambling to build two chairs for an upcoming furniture show in Cincinnati (plus a plinth, and a sign). The rest of the staff is wrapping up their work on our forthcoming pocket book: “Smalls” (see photo above). It will feature 18 really nice projects you can make in a day with some scraps. I’ve got to make this brief because I’ve got to go autograph a heap of copies of “The Anarchist’s Design Book” – after several delays, we finally have this book back in stock.

Applications Open for Chairmaker’s Toolbox Class
Every year we hold a scholarship class with The Chairmaker’s Toolbox, an organization that champions people who are underrepresented in the craft. Applications are open for the class in August. Free tuition, materials and some meals.
Chairs at the ‘No Coast Furniture Salone’
I’m showing (and selling) two of my stick chairs at this juried furniture show in Cincinnati. Come check out the show, which features work from design students and independent makers.

The American Peasant Substack
Earlywood: Put These Ideas to Use
Ancient workbenches don’t come with an instruction manual. We have to write one together.
(Free for everyone)
No More Clown Hammers
There are lots of good hammers out there. And then there is the one despicable striking tool that shows up in every class. You can smell it a mile away.

The Anarchist’s Apprentice Substack
Got Room for One More? Or Three?
As Kale continues to explore the craft, there are some tools that they want to add to their tool chest. (Sound familiar?) Kale’s Dutch tool chest might get full some day.

Video: Leapfrogging
You can break a lot of rules if you need to get things done. In this video, I show you how to go from #80-grit to a finished surface in one step. And then the comments got a bit heated (my fault).

The Kei Truck Experiment
The unvarnished truth about our Mitsubishi Minicab and how it has served us during the last four years. Is it smart to buy a 1996 truck imported from Japan?
