The good news is the hardest part is over. But that doesn't mean you don't have a few more to-dos before you can kick up your feet. Get these knocked out and you'll be enjoying your new home in no time! ⁣

But first, coffee. Coffee first. Always…. OR MARGARITAS!!!

  • Make a list of the utilities you need to get up and running. Force yourself to sit down and make the calls one by one.⁣ (I have a checklist for this that I send my all of my Buyers)
  • Complete another walkthrough taking note of any tasks, repairs, or additional cleaning you need to do. Go ahead and knock out that cleaning before you unpack further.⁣
  • As you learn your new home, keep a running list of items you need from the store.⁣
  • Set up bedroom furniture and make beds so you'll have a soft and comfy place to crash at the end of today.⁣
  • While it doesn't have to be done right now, consider changing the locks on the exterior doors so you're the only one with access to your new home.⁣
  • Start unpacking. The kitchen is a good place to start after you've got the beds set up. Be patient. There's lots to unpack here. But once you're done, it'll feel SO good.⁣

  • Show your four-legged friend around. Walk the boundaries of your property, introduce him to friendly neighbor pets, and offer plenty of supervised time to sniff and explore.⁣
  • Change your address at the post office and order "I've moved" cards to send to friends and family.⁣
  • Join neighborhood social media groups and collect referrals for daycares, schools, doctors, and other service providers.⁣

Be willing and ready to introduce yourself to neighbors. Whether they stop by or you see them on one of your many trips in and out, make it a point to say hello! I have a little something extra that I do ahead of time for my Buyers to help "break the ice".

I love the first few days after move-in day—the excitement is incredible! I also love answering buyer questions as they get settled in and start to make their new home theirs.

Dreaming of a home all your very own? I'd love to help. Let's Connect!
