You might be surprised how many New Yorkers want Cuomo to continue ruling the state.

In a Marist poll conducted Tuesday evening, 59 percent of New Yorkers, including 52 percent of the registered Democrats, said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo should, given the results of an independent investigation that found Cuomo sexually molested several women, resign from office, including civil servants.

Cuomo denies the allegations and says he will not resign. If Cuomo doesn't step down, 59 percent of New Yorkers believe Cuomo should be charged.

According to the Marist poll, 32 percent believe Cuomo should serve the remainder of his term, which lasts until 2023. 44 percent of New Yorkers believe Cuomo did something illegal, 29 percent believe he did something unethical but not illegal, and 7 percent believe Cuomo did nothing wrong.

"The Public Opinion Tribunal believes the allegations against Governor Cuomo justify his impeachment," said Marist Survey Director Dr. Lee M. Miringoff. "If he doesn't resign, nearly six in ten New Yorkers believe he should be charged. Even if he survives this scandal, his chances of re-election are ruined, even his democratic base will be abandoned. "

Only 11 percent believe Cuomo should be re-elected. 78 percent believe it is time for someone else to become governor of New York.
