Beverley J. Wood, 86, a retired real estate agent from Parsons, died at her home at 6:41 pm on Saturday, August 7, 2021.

She was born on August 11, 1934 in Ainsworth, Nebraska, to William and Anne (Edwards) Oatman. She grew up there and graduated from Ainsworth High School. In the early 1950s, she and her family moved to the Springfield, Missouri area.

On December 10, 1953, she married Robert L. Wood in Mount Vernon, Missouri. They settled in Parsons in April 1957.

In the early 1970s, Beverley began working in real estate, becoming a real estate agent and insurance broker. She became a partner of the late Gary Seaton in the Seaton-Wood Agency, which later developed into the Wood-Dulohery insurance and real estate business. She served several terms as President of the Labette County Board of Realtors and was named Broker of the Year several times by her peers. She retired in 2000.

For several years she worked as a marketing agent for an upscale clothing line, an activity that was both a hobby and a business.

Beverley was a long-time active member of the First Presbyterian Church, an elder and a deacon, and served in various other capacities. She served on the Presbyterian Manor Board and was a member of Chapter BS, PEO. She loved to cook and entertain, and often hosted office parties in her home. Gardening, traveling and looking for antiques were other hobbies she enjoyed.

Her husband, Robert L. "Bob" Wood, who is almost 68 years old, left the house; a daughter, Robyn Wood and her husband, Dr. Pat Moriarty, from Lawrence; a son, Bob Wood and his wife, Suzanne, from Parsons; four grandchildren, Bryan Cargill and his wife Stephanie from Lawrence, Caitlyn Dolar and her husband Danny from Augusta, Georgia, Emily Wood from Frontenac, and Matthew Wood from Frisco, Colorado; three great-grandchildren, Penny of Lawrence and Deja and Dominick of Augusta, Georgia; and a brother, William "Bill" Oatman of Springfield, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann McCorcle.

The service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Rev. Jennifer Dawson. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery. The family welcomes friends to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The family asks everyone who has not received the COVID-19 vaccination to wear a mask.

Monuments are proposed to either the First Presbyterian Church or the Parsons Presbyterian Manor. They can be deposited with the undertaker, PO Box 942, Parsons, KS, 67357, or sent there.
