LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN)– While on Instagram, you may have seen photos of a guy holding a funny sign in a random area. He is known as @DudeWithSign. Well, here in Acadiana we have our own lady with a sign.

Bonnie Richards Simon drives to popular spots in the area to stand in front of them and take photos with a sign. The message is usually a fun play on words about mortgages and home buying.

"I'm trying to use terminology that a lot of people in the mortgage or real estate business are familiar with, but I'm making fun of it. I mean, mortgages are very serious, home buying is one of the biggest purchases most people will ever make. So if I can bring in the comedy and then a place that you know and enjoy, you will remember our society, "said Simon.

Simon is a mortgage lender for Gold Financial Services. It helps home buyers select loans and understand all of the terms and conditions involved

"I can help you take these (home-buying) paths by looking at your creditworthiness and income, and we can start this process a year, two years before you are ready to take the plunge," she said.

The house buying process can be stressful so the lady with a sign goes out of her way to get people excited about it. She has gained a huge following on Instagram and built more customers.

"The dynamic is amazing because they remember it and then they refer people and they say, 'Look at that girl with the sign that she's before the tsunami or she's at Burger Tyme and she's gonna fuck me up.' So that gets the conversation going, what you're looking for, then let's get down to the serious side, "she said.

Ever since Simon became the "Golden Lady with Sign", he has helped people in Acadiana buy their first home. She also sells to other Louisians across the state.

"Together we are all stronger, so if I can help you to become successful in life and to build this generational wealth and dream home for you now. It's better for the community, and what's better for the community is better for all of us, "she said.
