So this blog has nothing to do with my usual woodworking subject so I'll keep the words brief and the pictures fun. We have a crazy, fun, big family on my Dad's side and we try and get together every two years. Our Grandma Alice passed away now about 11 years ago and she had a wonderfully big and loving family of twelve (12) kids! There are still 8 of the kids remaining and I'm the oldest grandchild since my dad was the second oldest of teh original 12. Many of my cousins and I are very close in age but we also have cousins that stretch down to their teens. And now our kids are starting to have kids. So when we get together it's a lot of fun. This year we decided to do the family reunion in the Black Hills of South Dakota where many of us had never been and the scenery was amazing.

The pictures above are typical of Stewart Family reunions. We rarely take serious photos and are lucky to remember taking group photos at all, but when we do we always do silly photos. While not all the Stewarts could come we did get 33 of us together this year for 3 nights / 4 days and that's a little less than half of the total extended family.

The Black Hills of South Dakota were amazing and there were so many things to go see. We couldn't see everything even if we had a month there, but below are a few highlights.

The Chapel in the Hills, a wooden stave church made in teh Viking Style from a recreation of an actual church made in 1150ad after Norway converted to Christianity. I'll do a separate blog on this woodworking masterpiece.
